What is Shitty Plugins?
Shitty Plugins is a shop that makes audio plugins on purpose badly. Every plugin does exactly what it says it does, and what it says it does is usually a bad idea. There are free browser toys in here as well, and a mailing list called the Members Club that gets told about anything new before the shop front does.
Are Shitty Plugins free?
The browser tools are free and always will be, with no signup and nothing to download. Each plugin has its own page here, and that page says what the plugin costs and whether you can have it yet. Members of the club hear about anything new or free before anyone else does.
Where can I download Shitty Plugins?
From this site, and nowhere else. Each plugin has its own page here carrying its own download, and anywhere else offering you a Shitty Plugins download is not us. The Members Club is where a new one gets announced first.
What is the Bad Decision Dispenser?
It is a free browser tool that prints one specific bad decision for the track you are stuck on, on a receipt. You pick what is wrong, how reckless you want to be, and it dispenses. Three a day over the counter. Members get unlimited.
What is the Suggestion Box?
It is where you tell us which audio plugin should exist. You describe the plugin the world is missing, we read it, and you get a receipt with a reference number. Free, no signup, and the good ones go on the Customer Noticeboard.
What is the Members Club and does it cost anything?
The Members Club is our mailing list. It is free, it stays free, and it is the only way to hear when a plugin actually ships. Members also get unlimited pulls on the Bad Decision Dispenser and one piece of correspondence a week from the stockroom.
Do the plugins actually work, or is the whole thing a joke?
They work. The joke is what they do, never whether they do it. A plugin here is real audio software that loads in a real session and behaves exactly as described, and the description is the part that should worry you.
What formats are the plugins, and will they run in my DAW?
They are built as VST3 and Audio Unit, plus a standalone app, which is what most desktop DAWs load between them. Each plugin’s own page carries its exact formats and the systems it has actually been tested on, because that is the part that varies and the part worth being precise about.
Who makes Shitty Plugins?
A very small shop. One person builds them, writes the labels, and answers the Suggestion Box. That is why there is a mailing list and not a support department.
